Xerox is looking for Metallurgist professionals to join a rapid growing 3D Print Organization working with metal additive manufacturing technologies. Candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team to support both system and sub-system testing and evaluation of additive manufacturing technology.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop metallurgical processing parameters for non-ferrous alloys in their liquid state to achieve desired properties in solid state.

  • Ability to work with Aluminum and/or metal compounds

  • Provide insight and guidance to the project team into the metallurgical properties and behaviors of non-ferrous alloys in both liquid and solid states and their melt flow, fusion, and bonding behaviors.

  • Identify critical metallurgical measurements and recommend laboratory equipment and resources to support these measurements

  • Provide guidance to the project team on the machining, heat treatment, finishing , and coating of non-ferrous alloys

  • Recommend, plan, conduct and analyze experiments to define and optimize additive manufacturing system and sub-system performance.

  • Participate in complex additive manufacturing system and sub-system problem solving by applying creative solutions within cost and time constraints.

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new materials, components and manufacturing processes for integration into additive manufacturing systems and sub-systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Metallurgy Science or Engineering from an accredited institution

  • 7+ years of experience in Metallurgy, 3D Printing, or a similar role

  • Industrial or academic experience with processing of non-ferrous alloys, especially aluminum and copper based alloys

  • Experience with general physical metallurgy including alloying, phase diagrams, sample preparation, sample measurement, and microstructure analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Materials, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering/Science or PhD in Metallurgy Science & Engineering

  • Experience with Aluminum Alloys, its melting and solidification process and dross related issue is highly desired.

  • Experience within 3D Print is highly desired.

  • Experience with Fracture Analysis and root cause understanding

  • Industrial experience in metallurgy of aluminum, copper, titanium, and nickel alloys in liquid and solid states

  • Prior experience in metal additive manufacturing research, testing, and/or simulation

  • Working knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics

  • Experience with experimental design techniques including DoE, SPC

  • Experience with statistical methods of data reduction andinterpretation

  • Self-motivation and demonstrated record of strong problem solving and academic skills.

  • Experience with collaborating across academic, industrial, and/or national laboratories

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
