Xerox in Webster, NY is looking for multiple machinists for their Webster location.

The Machinist\Op erator is responsible for the Manufacturing and Re-Claim of Fuser/Pressure/Metering rolls on both fully Automated Machines and Manually loaded equipment in Xerox Webster Fuser Business.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up and operation of turret lathes, waterjet equipment (preferable), all types of precision grinding and boring equipment, manual and computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machining equipment, washers internal and in-line to a manufacturing cell, synchronous and non-synchronous transfer equipment, drill presses, and assembly fixtures.

  • Operators are required to monitor manufacturing process's using PC enabled Statistical Process Controls (SPC), to perform required inspections, and to make machining adjustments as necessary. Have to do this stuff.

  • Operators are required to follow work processes, troubleshoot processes when necessary, and perform some minor equipment related troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Functions also include set-up and operation of sophisticated material handling equipment, including robotics

Tools & Equipment:

  • Precision measuring tools such as micrometers, laser micrometers, standard and special gauges, dial gauges, vernier calipers, surface plate measuring tools, pre-setting equipment, electronic indicators, jib crane overhead bridge, crane, PCs, Windows SPC, and three stack lamp (red, yellow, green).

  • Cutting tools related to equipment designated above.

  • Equipment use also includes material handling equipment, hoists, step-stools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).


  • Ferrous and non-Ferrous materials, coolants, solvents, soaps, etc.

Enabling Functions:

  • Establish and maintain a safe work environment for all individuals in the department.

  • Be familiar and trained in Robotic and Laser Safety.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, process sheets, and worksheets.

  • Interface with computer systems to access data for problem solving.

  • Use SPC Manual & Automatic record keeping.

  • Set up and product changeover for above equipment and adjust speeds/feeds (and edit CNC programs) to produce parts to specifications. Troubleshoot process's as required.

  • Gauge parts using precision tools as specified.

  • Perform adjustments on process equipment to ensure the process is maintained within operating parameters through gauging and SPC tracking.

  • Monitor equipment tool wear and change tools as necessary to produce parts to required specifications

  • Interface with other operators, maintenance, and engineering personnel as required

  • Be able to multi-task in order to maximize area efficiency

  • Know and run all equipment in area and rotate through equipment and tasks as required.

  • Be familiar with all applicable safety procedures and wear the appropriate PPE as required

Job Requirements:

  • 4 Year Apprenticeship + 2-4 years experience

  • or 6-8 years industrial experience

  • or 2 year AS degree from Trades + 4-6 years experience.
