Business Unit: Xerox Digital eXperience – Data Centre Services

Reports to: Senior Service Delivery Manager

Location: Luton or Uxbridge

Purpose of Role:

To build and maintain the core I.T. Infrastructure within the XDX XE Data Centre Services customer facing solutions team covering all areas of I.T. Infrastructure to support business requirements, growth and process improvement and actively research, test and deliver to the business new technologies in the market including virtualisation and storage management. Continually strive to assist with planning and implementation of new accounts throughout the business providing SME support on Infrastructure tools and technologies.

Scope & General Responsibilities:

  • Support over 1000 servers across multiple physical and virtual data centres globally

  • Maintain, develop and expand the current I.T. Infrastructure

  • Implementing new systems as per business requirements.

  • Monitoring current Systems in place thereby identifying bottlenecks/potential bottlenecks, and pre-empting failures that can put deadlines and business at risk.

  • Provide a Systems Consultancy role to Xerox sales team in providing innovative and cost-effective systems solutions.

  • Maintaining and following backup / Disaster Recovery policies and procedures using various backup and restore solutions.

  • Ensure data integrity and security and compliance with ISO 27001.

  • Builds knowledge of the organisation, processes and customers

  • Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills

  • Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction

  • Moderate decision-making authority guided by policies, procedures, and business operations protocol

Background, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree level in a Computer related science.

  • A post graduate experience in an IT Infrastructure support role

  • A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Linux computing environment in all aspects.

  • A thorough knowledge of Virtualisation technology

  • A thorough knowledge of cloud technologies provided by Azure & AWS

  • A thorough knowledge of Storage Area Networks

  • A good understanding of Microsoft SQL Server

  • Excellent negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers.

  • Communicating, knowledge sharing and working effectively within a well-motivated functional team.

  • Documentation skills to ensure Systems Operating Procedures are maintained.

  • Ability to work flexibly, in ‘out of hours’ operation mode to ensure updates and patches can be applied to servers and network components without any interruption to production.

  • A ‘customer first’ attitude to deal with customers always in a friendly and efficient manner.

  • Ability to work is a process environment, delivering to schedules ever mindful of the customer.

  • The nature of this position requires staff to occasionally work outside normal hours. Flexibility in the working day is essential in order to achieve the SLA.

  • Driving license essential.
