Xerox Corporation in Webster, New York has an immediate opening for a Chemical & Materials Engineer.
Support all necessary manufacturing issues with high level activity for process safety concerns, customer quality concerns, supplier and/or vendor quality investigations and product sort/rework activities.
A proactive person who will seek out and implement additional tasks that will add value to the plant.
Provide real-time resolution of issues impacting production, minimizing disruption to product flow.
Use DfLSS/LEAN and Shainin manufacturing methods for continuous improvements.
Create and/or revise manufacturing process instructions and procedures.
Submit all EH&S Project Review Requests for any project work that would impact Safety, Environment, or new processes or materials as required.
Chemical & Materials Engineer Key Deliverables :
Manage projects associated with the plant strategic direction.
Respond to Safety incidents and participate in Safety initiatives for the department.
Initiate and champion continuous improvement projects in the plant to improve processes, facilities, equipment and personnel efficiencies through application of DfLSS and Shainin methodologies.
Provide recommendations on new equipment that may be required to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Provide training of operators on new processes and procedures.
Develop and implement measurements for equipment to ensure their operation to required specifications.
Understand machine operation and making suggestions to improve machine operation ratios, net operator time and product flow.
Job Qualifications/Key Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline.
Experience working with Microsoft Office -- Word, Excel and Outlook.
Prior experience working in a mix room and/or coating facility a plus
Good PLC understanding; Allen Bradley PLC’s SLC500, PLC5, and RS Logix Controllers preferred
Must have strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
Must have strong communication and team building skills
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, PID schematics and understand hydraulic and pneumatic logic.
Any experience in a LEAN, Shainin, and DfLSS is a plus

Strong ability to manage relationships with customers, vendors and employees within the company

Proven ability to relate well in a people-oriented and team environment.
Demonstrated maturity and stability in a work environment.

Physical Demands :
Standing, hearing, sitting, walking, speaking, bending; must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to focus on details and component quality, while working in a Warehouse environment with frequent interruptions.
