The Vice President of Total Rewards is a dynamic and influential leader with energy, a creative mindset, and strategic thinking abilities who will successfully lead Xerox’s Total Reward function and help to reposition Xerox as a technology powerhouse. This is a significant and challenging role that is responsible for developing and implementing enterprise-wide strategies, fostering best practices, and driving operational excellence. As a key member of the Global Human Resources Leadership Team, the role reports into the Chief Human Resources Officer and will liaise directly with members of the Executive Management Team and Compensation Committee.

Accountabilities of the Role:

  • Working closely with Xerox’s senior executives, this role has the responsibility for all matters concerning the design, development, implementation, communication and administration of all employee compensation and benefits programs.

  • In addition, the role is responsible for all executive compensation activities, supporting the CHRO and the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors at Xerox Corporation.

  • Promotes an internal appreciation for the business value of strategic compensation—while enhancing the basic rewards infrastructure—so that there is a well-defined and appropriate framework in place.

  • Ensures that a clear and consistent Total Rewards philosophy is in place. This philosophy will need to be solidly supported by the Senior Operations Team and embraced by the Board of Directors; it will underpin all resources, strategy and tactics.

  • Ensures that the approaches to Equity Compensation are appropriate to Xerox Corporation’s business environment and culture. Recommends changes in the programs to ensure that Xerox Corporation remains market-competitive, while simultaneously balancing costs and meeting business objectives.

  • Reviews Xerox Corporation’s employee benefits offerings and recommends changes to the benefits programs to take advantage of tax-efficient programs and to ensure competitiveness.

  • Manages the effective communication of benefits to achieve employee awareness, understanding and appreciation of the programs offered.

The Candidate:

As a recognized expert in the Total Rewards field, the successful candidate will have the courage, conviction and ability to present a point-of-view to Senior Management, while being able to defend and articulate the thought processes behind any recommendation. The successful candidate is a successful influencer with a global perspective, possessing the ability to effectively communicate the business reasons behind any proposed changes, while acknowledging the debate against the opposing viewpoints presented. He/she will also appreciate the significant affect Total Reward has on organizational behavior.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years of diverse and global Total Rewards experience in an industry or consulting environment. Subject matter expertise and recent work experience creating and shaping executive compensation programs inside a highly competitive industry are required.

  • Strong business acumen; a solid understanding of the financial, legal and tax implications of the various global compensation and benefits alternatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver flexible, creative reward strategies that link directly to operating unit issues/drivers, as well as proven ability to manage the corporate communication strategies that reinforce compensation and benefits messages.

  • Strong leadership, people management and mentoring skills as evidenced by a proven track-record of attracting, developing and retaining a highly talented team.

  • A history of successful interaction and influence with all levels of stakeholders including the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors, Chief Financial Officer, Tax Department and other Senior Executives.

  • A well-traveled individual with hands-on knowledge of the global marketplace and extensive working knowledge of global survey and analysis processes. International compensation and benefit design experience, including expatriate programs, is critical.

  • A working knowledge of enterprise-wide human resources systems, as well as a demonstrated ability to understand the data structure and effectively translate data and information. Experience planning a systems implementation strategy for newly acquired entities is a plus.

  • Good knowledge of both U.S. and international regulatory environments.

  • Ability to integrate with Xerox’s global leadership culture; outstanding interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Experience with diversified and global services businesses is preferred.

  • Experience working with Board of Directors, particularly the Compensation Committee of Board of Directors, is required.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required. An M.B.A. or advanced degree preferred; designations in areas of tax, accounting or law will be considered a plus.
