Xerox Corporation is implementing a significant enterprise-wide evolution to transform ourselves into a worldwide technology powerhouse. The VP of Communications is pivotal to the success of this, and he/she is empowered to shape the external profile and reputation of Xerox, whilst developing internally focused strategies that increase engagement. This is a global role, that has responsibility for providing strategic communications advice to the CEO and other senior leaders, support a strong corporate brand, enhance the digital presence of the company, and develop clear metrics for assessing the effectiveness of communications activities. He/She will guide all aspects of internal and external communications for the company while collaborating directly with leaders of the business functions, executive management and the Board of Directors.

Accountabilities for the role:

  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive management committee.

  • Defines and sets communications priorities, clarify and manage key messaging, support communication needs of internal clients and establish metrics and measures of success for all Communications initiatives

  • Shape the external profile and reputation of Xerox into a technology powerhouse. Together with colleagues across the company, the VP Communications directs both daily media and industry analyst activities as well as helping shape the longer-term brand and reputation strategy.

  • Develop an internal communications strategy, with a focus on the future. This includes driving engagement through innovative approaches to messaging (Yammer, Digital, interactive) and strategic bundling of messages that reach our employees.

  • Plans, prepares and relays information concerning the company, such as shareholder information for investor relations. Initiates programs that ensure the public’s understanding of the organization. Co-ordinates media relations and prepares external communications.

  • Create and execute effective communications strategies, which build the reputation of Xerox among key influencers.

  • Manage and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure there is cohesive, consistent messaging and communications aimed at employees to influence and drive engagement.

  • Promote, maintain and defend corporate reputation; build proactive strategies and execute rapid response to time sensitive messaging.

  • Develop/manage executive messaging, media training and visibility strategies.

  • Provide world-class support for investor relations.

  • Lead & inspire global and local communications team to exemplary performance and contribution to the business goals.

  • Writes, edits, reviews and/or oversees release of communication documents and programs that support the organization and ensures external audiences or employees are kept in touch with company developments.

  • Enhancing the digital presence of the company, and partners with marketing, digital and social media teams.

  • Developing metrics to reliably understand the effectiveness of communications efforts.

  • Directs a small, but nimble team of communications employees and manages a broader matrixed network of employees who provide a level of internal communications support.

  • 15 years in an executive role leading / managing the Communications function for a large international organization developing and implementing successful and comprehensive communication plans, marketing and public affairs programs at a large complex enterprise.

  • Significant understanding of the today’s media environment, including the effective use of digital and social platforms.

  • Experience in communicating strategic initiatives to senior executives is essential

  • Keen understanding of services and technology landscape on global and local level

  • The individual must have excellent writing and oral communications skills, a strong sense of collaboration, focused discipline on critical priorities, a drive for results and operate with a great deal of empowerment.

  • Ability to produce high-quality, mixed-media communication products which can be delivered through digital and other channels.

  • Understanding of communication technology platforms

  • Critical skills include:

  • Strategic leadership and managing by influence.

  • Strong communications skills; team building and ability to drive alignment to company values and brand.
