Purpose:

Responsible for those functions, activities, and skills required for analysis, design, coding, integration, test & maintenance of software modules, subsystems or systems which control other electrical, mechanical, electronic or network systems.

Scope:

  • Contributes to departmental business plans and priorities by applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety issues

  • Sets priorities for team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors and executes on individual contributions.

  • Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills

  • Typically a graduate, although may have progressed into the role via equivalent business experience that provide knowledge and exposure to fundamental, theories, principles, and concepts

  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Individual contributor to mobile application development.

  • May also perform one or more of the following:

  • Leads the activities of software applications development

  • Leads the development, installation, and maintenance of computer programs for business applications

  • Directs and coordinates activities related to the design, development and implementation of software

  • Reviews current status of system applications and prepares recommendations for improvements

  • Leads the development and implementation of mobile applications

  • All other duties as assigned

Candidate Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experienced in Android SDK / NDK, Gradle, Android Studio

  • Experienced in Objective-C, XCode, iOS SDK, Swift

  • Experienced in working with RESTful and SOAP based web service interfaces

  • Experience working with mDNS, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, and BLE networking\pairing technologies

  • Experience working with authentication technologies (OAUTH, AD\LDAP, SAML, etc…)

  • Experienced in setting up continuous integration processes and automated unit testing

  • Solid communication skills, written and verbal

  • Effective communication with peers and ability to multitask and work in a team environment with a “can-do” attitude

  • Understanding of Agile software development and Scrum methodologies

  • Ability to learn new applications and technologies quickly

  • Ability to adhere to coding standards and conduct routine design and code reviews

  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot technology problems with speed and accuracy

Desired but not required:

  • Protocol knowledge of IPP, SNMP, NFC, Wifi-Direct, and BLE

  • Web App Development: Responsive web design, HTML5, CSS, Angular JS

  • Mobile cross platform frameworks (Xamerin, Cordova, etc)

  • DevOps and GIT experience

Qualities/Attributes of a mobile software development lead:

  • Motivated, hardworking, obsessive compulsive about the success of the project and the team

  • Extremely technically competent and has a very deep understanding of current and future technologies

  • Is able to take into account adjacent subsystems and other impacted subsystems when changes to the code need to be done

  • A problem solver and expert who is sought after to resolve technical issues

  • Approachable by his/her teammates and works well with others

  • Passionate about their project and their job

  • Support direction set by manager and helps define it or re-define it when necessary

  • Passionate about learning new technology and figuring out how to apply it to their project

  • Always trying to push technology and innovation forward

  • Methodical in how code is implemented and how problems are solved

  • Ability to represent the organization in deep technical discussions with internal and external partners

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ year developing Mobile Software Applications with 3 or more in a senior role

Education:

  • Minimum: BS Degree in CS, Information Management/Technology, related field, or equivalent.

  • Preferred: MS Degree in CS, Information Management/Technology
