Xerox Sr. Manager I, Customer Risk Management in United States


The Senior Leader of Risk Management oversees risk management activities within the Xerox businesses serviced by North American Risk. The position reports to the North American Chief Risk Officer and requires strong leadership, in-depth/proven risk management and finance expertise and the ability to enhance revenue growth and profitability by driving significant changes within the Organization. Create and develop loss rate modeling and economic forecast models for North America. He/She will be responsible in the assistance in development/maintenance, assisting in the launching of new scoring models for North America, and play a key role in improving the underwriting processes. This is a highly visible position, as the Senior Leader of Risk Management is expected to interact with the Executive Team, and provide insight on how to improve the performance of the portfolio through the credit life cycle. The ability to operate independently, with excellent time management and problem solving skills are key elements of the role.


Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Lead the development of robust early warning systems to assist with the maintenance of a strong system of risk governance.

  • Develop new portfolio management approaches based on leading macroeconomic indicators, triggers and reports, which in turn will drive the proactive management of the portfolio and underwriting/pricing strategies.

  • Oversee the creation of portfolio quality reviews for the Executive Team as well as rating agencies. Participate in local Credit Committees

Risk Analytics:

  • Assist in the development/build, and maintenance of robust statistical credit scoring models, customer segmentation schemes (Captive/Non-Captive) and other analytically based tools to better analyze and mitigate risk within the portfolio by assessing probability of default and expected losses

Decision Technology :

  • Lead the build and maintenance of best-in-class custom underwriting applications.

  • Lead the design of the business requirements including internal data gathering, external vendor data interface, customer validation and credit decisioning logic.

  • Oversee the programming of these business requirements and testing of the final product. Once launched, monitor the performance of the application, investigate issues and provide corrective remediation.

Data Management:

  • Create and maintain an enterprise data warehouse to centralize data coming from the full credit life cycle and multiple portfolios.

  • Lead the design of the business requirements by interacting with various parts of the Organization to gather their business needs.

  • Partner with IT data architects to build a sound North American data warehouse solution.

Financial Analysis:

  • Lead the credit loss forecasting activities.

  • Participate in reserving activities.


  • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline, e.g. mathematics, statistics, finance, economics

  • Formal finance/ business training, MBA or CFA designation strongly preferred

  • 10 years of experience in an advanced analytics area in a major financial institution

  • Subject matter expertise in credit and operational risk in the financial industry

  • Exposure to the full credit life cycle (underwriting, portfolio monitoring, collection, recovery)

  • Advance knowledge of underwriting practices and Credit Policy optimization

  • Strong quantitative background and experience building credit scoring models

  • Experience building complex financial software and data warehousing tools

  • Proven expertise in portfolio monitoring and managing the risk/reward equation

  • Sound understanding of accounting concepts, financial reporting, credit loss forecasting, reserving

  • Self-starter with executive reporting experience and strong project management and leadership skills.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate difficult concepts at all levels of the Organization as well as external business partners

  • Ability to effectively negotiate multi-million dollar contracts with outside servicers

  • Ability to manage and deliver on multiple priorities and tight timelines
