Provide comprehensive environmental health and safety services to chemical manufacturing, research, development, and engineering operations.


  • Investigate and resolve employee safetyconcerns.

  • Assess employee exposure to chemicalsubstances and harmful physical agents. Document and communicate requiredprotective measures.

  • Establish specifications for personalprotective equipment and train employees in correct use. Monitor equipmentacceptance and use, and manage related training records.

  • Review governmental regulations and industrycodes of practices for applicability to company processes, facilities, andequipment. Identify and communicate actions required for regulatorycompliance.

  • Work closely with employees and appropriatelevels of management to develop and implement compliance strategies.

  • Investigate safety and environmentalincidents, determine root causes, communicate findings and correctiveactions.

  • Identify hazards and risks associated with newand existing facilities, equipment, processes and materials. Definemeasures necessary to mitigate unacceptable risks. Partner withmanagement, engineering and employees to develop and implement controlmeasures.

  • Develop strategy and sustainable programs topromote workplace safety and health, environmental leadership, andregulatory compliance.

  • Compile and present information to managementregarding EH&S performance.

Bachelor's degree or higher in technical field.

  • Current certification orability to obtain Board Certification as Industrial Hygienist. CertifiedSafety Professional is a desirable second certification.

  • Knowledgeable inapplicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA and NY regulations and codes, and able tointerpret and apply them

  • appropriately toindustrial and R&D operations.

  • Safety and environmentalhealth-related experience in manufacturing and engineering operations.Experience working

  • with combustible dust ishighly desired.

  • Excellent written and oralcommunication skills. Able to communicate effectively and establishcredibility with employees and all layers of management.

  • Ability to relatetechnical information to others in non-technical terms.

  • Able to handle multipletasks and priorities.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Interpersonal skills.
